Seeking beauty.
"When I started working with unclothed female models in 1991, I knew at once that they would become the heart of my work. This is the very first image I captured, as Mary Anne strode confidently into the studio."
"While on a shoot at a Baltimore County farm in 1992, I asked Mary Anne to climb the stairs into a barn. Her powerful stride into the darkness above resulted in the creative gift all photographers hope to facilitate in their work. There is beauty, bravery and mystery here. What more could I ask for?"
In 1993, on Great Duck Island, the last small island out in the Atlantic off the coast of Acadia National Park in Maine, I orchestrated a week long photo shoot with four models, including my wife Rebecca.
This is my favorite image from that week. It features Tracy, who is still my friend and muse, 31 years later.
Offered Key (Baltimore - 1993)
I have had the the good fortune to work with many beautiful and talented models. Jennifer was one of the best.
My wife to be, Rebecca, let me know the night we met that she wanted to be one of my models. Here she is, a beautiful lady as always, in the living room of her condo in Washington, DC in 1992.
An abandoned barn in rural Maryland, filled with dozens of smashed television sets seemed a perfect setting for more appreciation of the beauty of the female form...I guess it's the contrast I appreciate. It was late afternoon in the Spring of 1993.
